Episode 66: How to Market a Middle Grade Novel
Tuesday May 11, 2021
Tuesday May 11, 2021
In this week's episode, I focus on marketing a middle grade novel. In the intro, I talk about Mother's Day 2021 and my recent health renaissance. Then, I move into what I have learned in the past few months about marketing a middle grade novel and some of the resources that I have been using. I knew marketing my new novel, Pendulum by S.E. German, would be labour intensive, but what I didn't know is that middle grade is particularly difficult to market. I talk about advice from two Podcasts: Making A Middle Grade with Claire Swinarski and #amwriting.

My new middle-grade fiction novel Pendulum by S.E. German is available on FriesenPress, Barnes and Noble, Amazon Worldwide (Amazon.com, Amazon.ca) and more!
Pendulum is a first-person narrative about a boy that experiences mental health challenges following an infection.
The young boy's personality and behaviour changes overnight from happy, funny, energetic and silly to anxious, obsessive, emotional, angry and depressed. After visiting over 20 doctors, getting seven misdiagnoses and his mental health declining further, the boy is finally diagnosed with a little-known and understood disorder without a cure called Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS). The heartwarming story follows the boy as he enters middle grade with regular school and peer challenges, moving for a healthy lifestyle and continues to cope with mental health issues like anxiety, OCD and depression.

Episode 60: Micro-Meditation
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
After my conversation with Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge in Episode 59 (Treating PANDAS, PANS and Lyme with Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge), I was really struck by the benefits on finding 10 minutes per day to calm our nervous system. Dr. Roseann suggested neurofeedback, biofeedback, gratitude journaling, 4-7-8 breathing and meditation as options for this daily practice.
To help get you started, this week I am bringing you a five minute micro-meditation. You can pair this meditation with another practice, or do it twice to get in your 10 minutes. Enjoy!
